Catch up

Yesterday I was feeling under the weather so I didn't go to work. By about noon I was feeling well enough to get out of bed so I got on the computer and loaded up WoW. Started at level 45 most of the way though. Ended at 1/2 way through 47.

I was completing quests all over the place. Hinterlands, Feralas, Un'Goro Crater just to name a few of the places. Trying to flush out the backlog of quests I have has proven interesting as many are chain quests that sometimes lead into instances. Getting a group together to complete the quest and get what you need done in the instance is not that easy. Unfortunately it also means that I am loosing faction that I need to get them up to Exalted. I would really like to get rid of the Raptor I am riding and get a Worg. I know when I get to 60 I can get my elite mount. I really want a Worg. For some reason it just seems better suited to a Hunter.

So now that I am 47 about to be 48 I find my self back at the BG portion of my grind. I am unsure if I want to hold off on what I am able to buy from them and save up for a epic set or get what I need now and grind the epic set when I get there. I am also running into gear issues. I upgraded my ammo pouch for my gun, got a new gun, put a sight on it. The nice Hunter/Engineer that made my sight also gave me 4 stacks of Mithril Gyro-Shot, but I had already bought 10 stacks of Accurate Slugs. But the nice part is the new bag is a 12 slot bag.

I have been neglecting my gear in a bad way. Since I do the Mining and Skinning I need to look into who is a skilled in my Guild and have things made for me. I get things by the stack so I generally have 1~5 stacks of most all leathers and hides on me(in the bank but who cares). Not to mention several stacks of Iron, Steel, Silver, Gold, Mithril, almost able to mine Truesilver and Thorium.

Eventually I will have one main thats 70 that is able to supply my alts with what they need to level and skill up to where I want them to be. My eventual goal is a alt that is high enough to take over that and allow my main to move into a craft or 2. Not sure what I want to do as a craft at this time though. I know 1 will be leather working so I can make my own armors. The second one though I am on a wall with. As a engineer I can make things like ammo and if the rumors are true soon to be arrows and possibly bows. Or I can do Enchanting, this will enable me to twink my alts and my self and others in the guild. Cause gods know no one really donates well to a chanter. I paid the person that made me the scope 5g and 2 bars of truesilver that I had from the purchase on the AH.

Something I have noticed

When I am fighting I prefer mobs that are 1~8 levels above me. 1~5 if Elite. Generally my pet has no issue holding aggro on a mob. But last night after being frustrated with a quest in Dustwallow Marsh. I was called up by a guildie who needed help in Hinterlands with a quest that was in the 49~52 range. With out hesitation I was there. It took him longer to get there due to the curse of being a hunter than it did me as I already dealt with this curse just before resuming my frustrations in Dustwallow.

So I get to Hinterlands and swallow up all the quests I left after getting my flight point last time I was there cause I knew I was too low to survive long in the zone. But 5 levels later I am back. We go to the Troll temple there and go all through it. I am drawing aggro like crazy proxmity or while fighting. My pet just cant hold it. The mobs were high enough that my kitty was getting resisted on almost everything and his DPS was abysmal. Being 6 levels lower than the other hunter I did about 40% of the DPS though with all things considered. I of course am BM spec, he on the other hand is MM speced. He was still very impressed that I was able to deal the ammount of dmg that I was even though the mobs had me cold a few times. Resisted my FD about 50% of the time and my traps about the same. Kiting and snare was my best friend unless I knew I would aggro more mobs. Depending on what we were doing or what was around I would aggro them and lead them all on a merry chase. That would be when I would have 1 he would have 1 and I would only grab one other. If I knew I would bring the total over 3 I would just sit there trying to generate as much dmg as I was able using pots and everything I could to stay alive.

All in all we got the quest completed for him, I got though 1 quest and most of the way through another while I was there. Tonight I will be working on more of them to clear out my quest log, I have about 23~24 quests right now and I need that number to be lower so when I go into Instances I have the ability to accept shared ones if they are available.

Guess the only real counter to pets being able to hold aggro is their level so the aggro spells don't get resisted as much. Hopefully I don't move too fast up in level so my pet will follow. I can complete several quests a day as I have noticed and have almost out leveled my pet by 2 levels.

Fun weekend

What can I say. It was a very fun weekend. Made it to level 44. Completed loads of quests from all over. Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale, Hinterlands, Dustwallow Marsh, Even got the new flight point and did all the chain quests in Dustwallow.

Tough I did have to have a GM help me on one. It was dealing with the Ogers in the swamp and the dragons taking over. The final part is planting a banner and fighting a named dragon just outside Onyxia's lair. Well I got there and he was up. But he wouldn't activate no matter how many times I planted the banner. So I got a GM to despawn him and it worked as intended.

I have finally left the realm of earning silver for completion of quests and am now into earning gold. It will help some and I might be able to start a profession now. I do Skinning and Mining as a way to earn money. Along with selling Green and Blue drops from world and instance runs. But at the rate I am leveling I am not sure I will be able to save up what I need to begin crafting. I know I will be working on leather working first so I can build my own armor. From there I am not sure what I want to do. There are allot of possibilities. I am thinking of enchanting so I can apply buffs to things that I want with out having to have help from others.

I finally got Arcane Shot (Rank 6) PvP'ers beware I will remove your buffs now. This will help out allot in both PvE and PvP. I do not like being hit by flame shields or things like that.

Finally

Made 40 last night. Did some questing and BG's. I got me a Raptor mount. Not really sure what I think about that, I think I am going to get the faction to get a Worg from the Ogers. For some reason that just seems to fit a hunter better.

I thought it was interesting in the 40's bg's. Alot of the people I was in there with were very rude on the Horde side. I finally had to tell one that if he didn't like what was going on and kept complaining to leave the BG or keep his mouth shut. Every few seconds it was complaints about something over and over and over again.

I had a few comments about my level when I joined the BG that I ignored. I ended up with the most kills and the highest DPS for the horde, and the 3rd highest in healing. I immideatly rejoined after that BG and had a few whispers telling me thanks for the good job on keeping every Alliance dead that came near the fortress in WSG. I also got similar results in AB.

I did find to my dismay that for some reason I was thinking that I could go to AV at 40. I definatly deluded my self. Its 51? I don't know not really worried about it. All I know is its a minimum of 10 levels away and much gear and talents purchased from here to there. With the increase to how fast we are leveling now doing Quests I find I am unable to keep up 2 pets. I guess I will let my other pets go for now and keep learning all the skills I can to make sure that when I get to 70 I can get the pets I want and train them in all the skills I need. This is barring that by the time I get to 70 I wont be in a head long rush to 80 along with everyone else.

Patch 2.3 Hunter Notes

Hunters

- Aimed Shot (Marksmanship) now reduces healing done to that target by 50% for 10 seconds, shot time reduced by 0.5 seconds.

- Arcane Shot (Ranks 6 and above) now dispel 1 Magic effect in addition to their normal damage.

- Explosive Trap: The initial damage dealt by this trap is now also increased by 10% of your ranged attack power.

- Expose Weakness: The triggered effect from this talent will no longer use up charges of Misdirection.

- Immolation Trap: The total damage dealt by this trap is now also increased by 10% of your ranged attack power.

- Misdirection: This spell will now always be removed correctly if multiple Hunters overwrite each other's Misdirection.

- Misdirection: If a Hunter attempts to use this ability on a target which already has an active Misdirection, the spell will fail to apply due to a more powerful spell already being in effect. This will not trigger the cooldown or cost any mana.

- Readiness: This talent now finishes the cooldown on Kill Command.

- Serpent Sting, Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap all gain additional damage based on ranged attack power.

- Serpent Sting: The total damage dealt by this sting is now also increased by 10% of your ranged attack power.

- Steady Shot: Tooltip clarified to indicate base weapon damage is used in the damage calculation.

- Trueshot Aura (Marksmanship) no longer costs mana to cast and will last until cancelled.

- Wyvern Sting (Survival) is now instant cast and has a maximum duration of 10 seconds in PvP.

- Wyvern Sting: This ability will no longer be overwritten by lower ranks of Wyvern Sting.

Real update will happen after I get real work done.

Fun story

While reading Outland-Bound I was reminded of a PUG I was on this weekend. I am running around leveling to 38 Friday night so I can BG's to my hearts content Saturday and Sunday to get marks for gear. I get invited by a tank that I have grouped with to good results with before. So I decide to stop what I am doing and go to the other end of the continent for Scarlet Monastery. We start out with the Cathedral, now I have soloed in there to good effect if I am very careful and manage my crowd control properly, now I can't get past the first CY solo but theres good exp to be had and deacent cash and gear for the trash drops.

So we get there and get going. Group is as follows, Tank, Rogue, Mage, Priest(Holy), Hunter(Me). We clear the first hall to the CY and get ready to go in. I am trying to keep up with pulls and marks but its about futile, we are killing to fast and moving too much. We get into the CY and start the mass slaughter no less than 3 to 5 mobs in camp every pull so for me its pet on one, I'm on another and every time its up Multi-Shot. The mage isnt even bothering with CC we have too many AE's going off (moslty his) and the mobs are falling over fast. My hardest thing was to have CS ready to snare the runners as we were killing so fast we could have 2 or 3 at a time. One pull we have 2 and I pop off with Multi-Shot and I see 3 shots leave me heading out. I started to freak out cause I didnt see the mob that the 3rd shot was going for. Then I saw the impact and the name it hit. It was one of the 5hp critters that was under the tanks feet. Poor bunny didnt stand a snow balls chance in hell aginst my dps. CRIT(200) poped up from the little bunny. I started laughing my arse off on that one. The Mage and Priest saw the shot and labeled me bunny killer for the instance.

The rest of the run went about like the first, high DPS plow fest. We managed in 2 hours to clear Cathedral, Armory, and 1/2 of Library we only went for the beastmaster.
